WANTED: NIRVANA CONCERT POSTERS FROM SEATTLE & NORTHWEST GIGS.

Nirvana specialist Scott Mussell is offering a $15,000 reward for his grail concert poster advertising the March 19, 1988 Nirvana concert at Community World Theater in Tacoma, Washington pictured below.

Scott Mussell is offering a $15,000 reward for a pre-concert produced gig poster advertising the March 19, 1988 Nirvana concert at Community World Theater pictured above. If you have Nirvana concert posters, flyers, or handbills contact him anytime at 515.707.7250 or email at srmussell@me.com

With pushing 90 pre-1992 Nirvana concert posters, flyers, and handbills already in his collection Mussell may have one of the most extensive hoards ever built but his pursuit of examples not already represented in the collection remains strong. “There’s still more interesting posters out there,” he says adding “Throughout 2023 I’ve been exposed to several I wasn’t aware of prior and that is what makes collecting fun.”

The pursuit of pre-fame Nirvana gig posters has led Mussell all over the country but one poster remains at the top of his list the March 19, 1988 gig at Community World Theater in Tacoma, WA. “That poster is the most important to me, I have an earlier piece but this is the first gig they played billed as Nirvana, before this they were billed under a few different names.” Add in that the art was produced by leader Kurt Cobain and this poster stands out above all others. “There are many knockoffs, many made nefariously. For an example with strong provenance that checked out, I’d be a buyer at $15,000 to be the next caretaker.” Mussell says.

$2000 or more cash reward for these and other Nirvana concert posters, flyers & handbills. Contact Scott Mussell 515-707-7250 anytime or srmussell@me.com

Mussell isn’t just seeking this grail poster, there are many upper Northwest posters he’s still seeking including gigs in Olympia, Seattle, Ellensburg, Bellingham, Hoquiam, Tacoma, and others outside of Washington state, especially Portland, Oregon. He’s most interested in posters produced before the concerts for use in getting the word out. “Some of the art for shows at the Seattle club, Vogue I think are superb I don’t know who designed these flyers but I’m drawn to the starker designs from ’88-‘90. One image, bold text, no address. They’re mysterious and I think they brilliantly capture the best of the DIY aesthetic.” Mussell said adding “I think this stuff is really important and I’ll put my money where my mouth is for single-owner material with solid history.” Anyone with handbills, flyers, and/or posters advertising Nirvana concerts can reach Mussell anytime at 515.707.7250 or email at srmussell@me.com.
